This page is dedicated to the photos of my daughter, Kiara.
After working on a photo session somewhere on location, away from home, I want to spend some time alone with my daughter. I love my work, but I also love to take some extra time off afterwards to have fun with my kid. I always take photos of her during those special moments – come rain or come shine. The magic of this world is that the greatest beauty is hidden right in front of us, in plain sight. And it’s there all the time. Not just when we’re having fun or when everything is perfect.
“The true mystery of the world is the visible, not the invisible.”
As a photographer, the most important part of my equipment are my eyes – I photograph the world as I really see it – up or down, sunny or rainy – it is beautiful. I think that a great portrait shows a person as they really are, not necessarily striking a pose that makes them look pretty or saying “cheese!”.
These photos of my daughter cover a whole range of her moods. In some she is laughing, in some she is crying. All of them are part of who she is. I don’t think that the photo in which I captured her when she fell down should be thrown away. I think it is beautiful in its honesty, just as those in which she is smiling. Falling down is an important part of our lives. How else would we learn to get up and move on?
