First of all, happy holidays to all of you who celebrate! I’ve been busy myself, otherwise this post would have been online sooner. But, as they say, better late than never.
It is that time of year when people usually sit down and reflect upon the year they left behind. Well, I have no philosophical or profound messages, and I think that is a great thing! You see, I’ve had just the most fantastic year I could have ever imagined! I met so many wonderful people and made new friends. I traveled to such locations as London and Stavanger in Norway (which was a BLAST!), but also finally got the chance to photograph at some of my favorite wedding locations in Croatia such as Brač and Vis. That alone would have been enough.
Getting the Full Picture
When I first started doing professional wedding photography in Croatia and on destinations, I was kind of worried where I would fit in the endless landscape of mostly stereotypical wedding shooters. However, I was lucky enough to have had a lot of work and little time to bang my head about it. Toward the end of the year, I started to feel a huge relief, like there’s been a huge burden lifted off of my shoulders. I realized that my journey to find my professional identity and style as a wedding photographer actually brought me full circle. I was right back where I was when I decided to start photography as a hobby and passion – curious, happy-go-lucky and always looking to capture the truth of the moment, not some artificial setup or a pose. My personal street style of photography, and the documentary photos I make when I shoot turned out to be exactly what I needed to do, and, more importantly, what clicked with all the beautiful people who decided to choose me to document their special day.
So without any deeply profound words of wisdom, I would just like to say that I’ve had a wonderful, exciting year, I finally feel free and comfortable with my style and what I look for in my wedding photos and I would like to thank all of you who believed in me and hired me to shoot your engagements and weddings. You, my friends, are the main reason for the huge success that the previous year was, because it was during those special moments that I learned that the place where I so eagerly wanted to get, was right there – where I had been all along, exactly the way I was – relaxed, friendly and as excited as ever about my work!
I wish you all the best in the year 2019!
